Veni, Vidi, then I got shivved on the Senate floor
Sunday night, I was on the phone with a cute boy and missed Rome. Fortunately, I DVRed it (yep, another gadget) and got to watch it last night. In case you haven’t yet seen it, I won’t go into too much detail. I will say this though: Pullo and Vorenus have one of the most touching and hilarious and awesome TV friendships I’ve ever seen. I was BAWLING during the last ten minutes of the show. I don’t mean I teared up or got a little sniffly. I was literally head-in-my-hands, had-to-grab-a-kleenex sobbing. Fortunately, Cute Boy called me a little later and cheered me up, but I still have to figure out how I’m going to get through the next episode, the season finale. Particularly because I read a little review in Entertainment Weekly that said the season sunsets with these two characters coming to ends that are “tragic” for one and “bittersweet” for the other. Ugh.
We know that Caesar dies. We know that Brutus plays a big role in his murder. We know that Octavian becomes Augustus, arguably the smartest of all the Roman leaders. We know that Mark Antony eventually marries Octavia (which makes his renewed relationship with Atia intriguing). But since Pullo and Vorenus are fictional characters, I have no idea what to expect for them. I’m honestly not sure I can handle it. I haven’t been this invested in TV characters since…well, since Entourage, I guess.

Christ. I couldn’t belive how nasty, violent, and emotional the end of that episode was. Good stuff, but hard to watch. I’ll be sad to see Caesar go, but what’s coming up is just as good.
