Emungous
This makes me sad. And not for the reason you probably suspect. I’m not grieving for the deteriorating state of modern American English due to the inclusion of the word “ginormous” in the Merriam-Webster dictionary (my bible, by the way).
No, I’m sad because if ginormous is now considered legit enough to include, then it isn’t funny anymore. I weep for the children of tomorrow who will never understand how hilarious it is to combine giant and enormous to make such an onomatopoeic word.

What’s even funnier, actually, was that time when I had countless hours to kill in Denver Airport and, as I sat in the faux French bistro pulling out my hair strand by strand, overheard the following page on the all-airport speaker system:
“Paging Doctor Normous.”
“Doctor Gi – Normous.”
“Please pick up a red courtesy phone.”
(Okay, so you kinda had to be there.)

For some reason I totally understand your sentiment. I think it has to do with getting old.
