Humpy the Humpback and her baby Humbolt
I don’t know why, but I’m a total sucker for any whale rescue news story. So I’m lovin’ this ongoing story.
The best part of this particular write up is the last paragraph: “In 1985, a humpback nicknamed Humphrey was escorted back to sea after swimming in the delta for nearly a month.”
Like they asked the wayward whale, “Hey, what’s your name?” and he gave ’em a nod and said, “‘Sup, I’m Humphrey.”

To be fair, his “nickname” is Humphrey. When they checked his ID he had to own up to being plain old boring Mike.
