If you can look at the above picture and not get pangs of nostalgia, I don’t wanna know ya. I’m doing more research for work (again, I swear) and have been sifting through pictures of American Bandstand. I found this one and though it doesn’t help me with the project I’m working on, I laugh and get a little lump in my throat at the same time just looking at it.

I was as much a geek as any kid, but I had a real thing for American Bandstand. When I watched it every Saturday, I’d ponder what outfit I would wear if I were ever lucky enough to boogie alongside all those cool teenagers. Would I go with my Rocky Mountain blue jeans and white frilly top? Or my yellow and white gingham skirt that looked like it had a petticoat underneath it? The jeans made my butt look good, but the skirt was so cute and cheerleader-like. Yes, even then, I was ass-conscious.
